Just curious as to what kept the upper part of the shifter from spinning around? You had to keep it free to push it down to get it in and out of gear , so did the tall upper part just spin around? I put a 36" shifter handle in my '48 chevy pickup and tapped the shifter rod that fit over the original shaft with set screws. worked great. How did you keep your upper shaft still and not spin?

Soon I hope to have most all of the interior chrome re-plated in copper to match.

judging from his photos, the friction fit in the 1/2 inch to 3/8 reducer fitting in post #39
