It was the TCM, the car drives great, it shifts smoth and no problems, I have driven it over 250 miles so far and good to go. Thanks for all the help everyone.

I was thinking TCM when I was looking at first post. I had to change my TCM for not shifting. It started just like yours did at 1st then when to door locks lock & unlock when driving then no shift and no speedo. Did you have to get new TCM reprogramed ? I did

Actually the guy at the salvage yard said I might have to get re-programmed but I lucked out and everything seems fine. If it starts to act up again I might see a Chevy dealer. It definatley was computer related not mechanical, which is a big relief considering rebuilding an auto trans can be pricey.
