I can't speak to what Chrysler may do but I know that GM will,on occasion, have 2 part numbers for functionally identical parts with the difference often being only cosmetic.Best example of that that I know of is the A/C condenser on a Transport van and an Aztek. It's the same part but the Transport part is a natural aluminum color where the Aztek part is painted black-and the unpainted part is more money than the painted one!

Well, I talked with my service guy at the dealer yesterday. I stressed how I'm about to make a payment on a car that I can't even drive. He said he would talk his "powers that be" and call me back. In about 5 minutes he called back to tell me that either they would make my monthly payment or pay for the repair, but didn't know exactly which one. I was pretty pleased about that. And he said the part was in transit so hopefully soon I'll have our car back.

Anyone else got a PM from Chevroletcustomerservice here on the forum, cause I did and she wanted to help me obtain the part if possible. Not bad I thought.

Well, I thought I'd post an update on our car. We picked it up last Friday and I commend my local dealer for what they did. I ended up not paying a dime for anything....what a relief and a blessing from above. Well, we went to pick up my son at his Mom's house, while I was standing waiting for him to come out the door I heard it stummble and I said to myself it's gonna go dead...10 seconds later yep it did. My wife tried to crank it to no avail. I popped the hood and wiggled and pushed on each fuse and relay, turned the key and it fired up. Heading back home while coming into town a car was turning in front of us, I hit the brakes and it went dead again so I pushed it up into N and coasted in the next parking lot. This time it wouldn't hit a lick. I called my Mom to give us a ride back home. I called the dealer and spoke with the Executive manager Saturday and he said come in and he would get me something to drive. So today the service shop called me and guess what, the NEW fuse box is bad.......They can put my old one back on and get it to fire up and run but can wiggle the wires and it will shut off and with the new box it will only crank and go dead immediately. So now I guess another 3 weeks or so we'll be without our car again.

If I was working on that vehicle, I'd be taking a hard look at the terminal tension in the connectors for that UBEC.
