Just dropped it off at the dealer, funny how in a short 5 days time, we go from "Yes Sir its covered under warranty", "we will have a loaner car waiting" to "I cant put you in a loaner till we know for sure that its covered, how about a ride back to work?" Gotta love the current service industry. I know if I ran my business this way I would be out of business in a real hurry! Now I get to play my favorite game, HURRY UP AND WAIT!

They really shouldn't have promised something they couldn't deliver. This is similar to what I have normally experienced... no loaner car until they determine whether it's a warranty repair and whether they will need to keep the car overnight. If they have to keep it, you should get a loaner this afternoon.

I believe the availability of a loaner car during a warranty repair is a GM Divisional guarantee. That's why the determination of a WARRANTY REPAIR IS NECESSARY. You really shouldn't expect or bit-h about that. If GM Corporation does not pay, it's additional expense to the dealer.

GM generally, WILL NOT assume the expense of a loaner for general, customer paid, repairs. However, some dealers will provide a loaner for extended repairs....maybe even overnight repairs. BUT that is the policy of the dealer.

I also find that if you have a solid relationship with your dealer, and maybe even your sales person, it provides a much smoother process.

Here is a breakdown of the invoice:

Cause: Code P1811 max adaptive shift exceeded check ball in direct/coast housing not seating allowing pressure leak on direct clutch.

Correction: Disassemble 4T40E trans and replace direct/coast housing, pistons and clutches as needed. olh for cleaning, inspection and partial recondition and for reprogramming TCM as per document #2167453. Flush cooler 1.0@66 degrees code 6BB4ED3 cycle 1172.

Total Parts = $1103.46 Total Labor = $997.64 for a grand total of $2101.10

Thankfully this was all covered under the powertrain warranty.

I never did get a loaner car or rental under the warranty. Lucky for me I have a great salesmen at the dealer and he arranged to put me in a car off the lot, if it wasn't for his excellent service I would of been on foot for a week.

CanAmChris,

I'm glad to hear everything was taken care of by your warranty!
