100,000 mile question
I'm about 500 miles from turning 100K and I'm going to do a little work on my Lil Red wagon to keep it humming along. I'm doing the spark plugs this weekend and my question is...do I need to do the spark plug wires or boots? I'm not having any issues (Thank God)but I'm not sure if they need to be replaced like the wires on the cars from years ago. I'm planning on doing the plugs, changing the tranny fluid & filter, flushing the coolant & changing the thermostat. I'm also going to put in a new battery. Since the car is 4 yrs old and none of this has previously been done, I think it's time. Anything I missed? As always, thanks for your help & input in advance.

No plug wires to worry about, HHR's have an individual coil pack for each plug. Just make sure you use Delco Iridium plugs, the Ecotec engine was designed around them and using anything else is asking for trouble.....misfires, etc.

Make sure you check the plug gaps before you install them, Delco's come pre-gapped at the proper 0.042 inch (1.06mm), but they can get knocked about in shipping etc.
Since the plugs are fragile, and adjusting the gap is very fiddly, take them back to the parts store for replacement instead of re-gapping them yourself.

Not actually 100,000 mile items, but many people simlply forget some of the simple sevice items. A good time to review these too.
1. Cabin Filter
2. Wiper blades front and rear.
3. Air Filter
4. Lube door latches including the rear and hinges if making any noise.
5. Wipe clean all door rubber seals and spray with a quality silicone or other approved product.
6. Clean all windows inside including rear view mirror and visor mirrors.
7. Check radio antenna for tightness.
8. Look to see how many miles since your last front end alignment.
9. Look at tire wear patterns on all 4 tires.
10. Inspect struts and shocks for leaks.
