Timing chain stretched!
Yes but in light of all the previous codes (P0106 P0108 P0641) and now P0016 I'm still wandering if electrical. By the way just turned 100,000 miles.

Thanks, will do. Is there more to change while in there? Belts, water pump, tensioner? Appreciate the help.

2 chains, tensioners, guides, oil spigot, (water pump, serpentine belt while you are in there).

Some kits come with all of that except the serpentine. You are supposed to use new bolts and you probably will want a new gasket.

Thanks Oldblue. Took it to the shop today. I think I'll pick those up myself and have the shop install. Would the bolts be in there? If not where do I find those?

Check with your shop first. Sometimes they won't guarantee their work if they don't buy the parts themselves.

Ok, they started working on car yesterday. Said they pulled valve cover and chain is loose so I told them go ahead. $1100 I told them to replace the serpentine belt and the water pump. He said he wasn't sure the water pump was in there as he didn't see it when he looked for it. LOL pray for me and my local repair shop.

Where VW used to keep the waterpump on their Beetles in the 50's and 60's and 70's?
