2.0 cracked
I been in a rental now for two weeks. The story starts about a month ago. Engine wasn't running right it was idling rough turbo didn't sound right and no power. Took it to dealer couldn't find anything wrong. Had car for 4 days engine light came on. I insisted there was something wrong with turbo. Dropped car off on a Wednesday by Fri my service guy call me says there pulling motor and taking it apart because problem is in motor but there unsure where. I was informed my extended warranty will cover it. By the next Monday i needed some personnel thing out of car. I was permitted to walk through service bay to see my SS on the lift no motor and every part of the engine in pieces all over the floor. Service mechanic explained finally what he found a cracked piston. I couldn't believe it. I been running on 3 cylinders for over a month. The bottom line is a new piston,4 piston rings and a new turbo are all being replaced under warranty including rental car. I had only 2,000 mile left under warranty. Everyone telling me to trade in the SS after this. I have over 57,000 miles on SS. The following have been replace previously turbo, cooling fan, cooling fan regulator,3 tire sensor, MAF. I enjoy this car alot. I've added a number of aftermarket things to my SS. Finally got it almost were I wanted it. I was planning new wheels this summer. Just not sure what to do.

Hell you have a new engine now I would drive it vs giving it to someone else to enjoy.
As a whole most SS have not had issues on any major scale nor have any Solstice or Sky turbo's.
Fans. maps and tire sensors are all made by out side companies that supply most of the industry. So even if you buy another brand you may be getting the same part anyways.

With things like Carfax, your better off keeping it. Buyers will be wary of someone trying to "unload" an SS, expecially since they got into the guts. Keep it. But now that the motor has been pulled, and bolt seats broken, it may have quirks after this.

I guess your right I practically have a new motor now. I done doing anything else performance wise to motor. All appearance related items now. I attached a pic of motor before blow up minus the air intake which i took of last this past fall because it gave too many MAF errors.
Mods: Cold IC pipes, 3" magnaflow exhaust, Rear sway bar, Fr & RR drilled & slotted rotors, IPCW Black tailights, smoked headlights, digital boost gauge, HID conversion headlights & driving lights

Welp I guess me and Gas Man aren't the only 2 now with major issues. Sorry to hear about all of yours. Just call the dealership and say that you need to get some things out of it. The first time my turbo went I had left things in the car and they had it for almots 3 weeks. I had to swing by a fews times to swap things around for work as the trunk in the rental wasn't even close to as big as the HHR.
We've been debating the whole trade in SS vs keeping it as well and it is a hard choice to make. On one side things are all new, on the other they already broke when basically new before.
