2.4 swap for 2.2
Hi all. I have not been on the forum for a while. Sorry if this has been asked. I still have my 08 Panel but blew head gasket. I have a chance to swap out an 07 - 2.4 for my 2.2. Many have said they prefer the 2.2 but the 2.4 will be cheaper to swap than rebuild the original. Also, it has less miles. Are there issues with swap such as wiring, computer and such? Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

This does look familiar.
The 2.4 is VVT. The 2.2 isn't. Pretty sure the transmission ratio is different. If you don't mind swapping computers and harnesses and dealing with who know what else, bc the bcm's my have important differences too, by all means, go for it.
Are you assuming a blown head gasket mean an engine-off rebuild?

Is the head damaged? Or just a couple of bent valves? Did the timing chain break or did the engine overheat?
For future readers, the 2006, 2007, 2008 2.2 is not compatible with the 2.4 or 2.0 as these two have VVT and the 2.2 does not. Oh, you would think , hey I just won’t be able to connect the VVT solenoids, but then there’s the camshaft phasers, these can be addressed by swapping the 2.2 camshafts snd sprockets this would eliminate the VVT , but then the close tolerance of the engine might allow the pistons to come to TDC and kiss the valves and your back at square one with a busted up engine.
