I doubt that's the case there buddy. Ever stop and maybe consider the shipping from plant to prep to dealership might cause the loose fuses? Im sure the WHOLE production line got up on a given morning and planned not to press the fuses in. Gotta love the open minded, non racist comments.

But I find I have to peal it up every once in a while to see if the pesky light is still on.

I have to disagree with you on this being "racist" Hip. Insesitive perhaps, but that's no more racist than saying "#$%& Americans."

Ok, so racist, maybe but if we didnt' have to build and ship the car from Mexico...would we still have these problems???
I 'm just saying that we shouldn't be making "American" cars in Mexico and I'm sorry to say this but my Mexican made HHR pales in quality comparison to my American made Honda. It's all GM's fault. The body panels shudder, the inside trim pieces don't fit right and I blame GM and the Mexicans for producing a potentially GREAT car in a crappy manner. This car should be fantastic but they are cutting corners beyond belief to keep their high-powered exec's in business.
Read the problem threads on this car and you gotta wonder WTF is going on? How does GM stay in business??? The 2008 HHR and the 2008 Honda are the first new cars I've ever bought so I am doing a direct comparison. So far the Honda is winning by a long shot...
And the government will bail GM out.

Sorry to turn this into an Anti-GM thread. I would love nothing more than to defend American car companies but they've had their collective heads in the sand too long and have been feeding us B.S. Enough!

Smile SS Repair Update

Got the SS into the shop re: the TPMS... they re-programmed the system and now all is fine!!

I took it on a day-trip today and no more error msgs (drove 190 miles)...

BUT--whenever I locked the car today with the remote, the Driver's door did NOT lock... (I was lucky enough to notice the button not going down very much and opened the door to a cacaphony of horn beeps!!)

I figured I'd "work" the button a bit (push down / pull up repeatedly for a while)... This field-repair may have worked--initially it was quit stiff; seems looser now.. And the door has locked sucessfull about 6 times..

the only other new-car shake-down issue is the radio.. The XM seems to stick once in awhile--and says "no info" or plays one station and the read-out shows another...

387 miles on it and so far that's it!

XM seems to be shuffling channels around the last couple of days...
I've had the sticking problem lately too.

XM 41 Boneyard is now Hair Nation

Tpm

On mine, I hit a pot hole and bent the right front wheel. It took about two weeks before the air escaped (positional) and the TPM told me on a nice cool morning that it was flat.....

Now that winter is here, the drivers door will not open with the remote....

Its in the shop and I'm driving the Scooner....

So far its been a great Little car.....

Come on people loose fuses is not causing this or any other problem. If the fuse is in the slot and making contact it is working, just because you may be able to push some of them further in, doesn't mean diddly.

When we replace the electrical center (fuse box) under the hood it COMES WITH ALL FUSES AND RELAYS ALREADY IN IT. So all they do at the plant is install the center. I believe these are made in an asian country but may be assembled somewhere in the USA and then shipped to the plants.

IMO the remark that they were loose because Mexicans built the vehicle was racist to a point. My first thought when reading it was that the poster meant to demean the workers in Mexico to the fact that they were either to lazy or ignorant to install them correctly. I don't mean to put words into what someone typed, but that is what my mind read into that statement.

Hijacking this thread to go back to the "loose fuse" urban legend is really not necessary.
