2006 2.2 HHR Electrical Issue or possible Demonic Possesion
#25
Well merry Christmas all,
I towed the HHR back to my own garage to access more easily. Once here I put a battery charger on it to make sure wad in good condition. It was completely dead again and as soon as the charger connected I could hear the telltale sounds of it back-feeding again. I removed the RUN/CRANK relay and charged battery.
I am certain that after I replaced the neutral safety switch that it was no longer doing that. I am in the process of replacing the pigtail connector to the ignition starter switch under steering column. When that is done and the security relearn is complete I will Uninstall and reinstall the NSS and see if the back feeding is again gone and what events trigger its return.

Okay all, the NSS is installed correctly. The ignition starter switch has been replaced. The back-feeding is currently gone.
Current issues/conditions:
I cannot perform the security relearn
Flashing hazard lights
Info screen scrolls: brake fluid, service airbag, door ajar. Door ajar is the only "accurate" indicator
Key will not come out of the ignition cylinder
No power to radio or HVAC
Scanner has power at OBD port, but no communication.
This was a running vehicle with issue of delayed ignition kill of 5 seconds and a parasitic battery draw on battery that could be interrupted by removing relay 51 RUN/CRANK. That was resolved by replacing the NSS and ignition starter switch properly.
I surely am frustrating you all but I am truly at a loss. What did I do lose communication with ECM and BCM at Port? I assume the broken link is the reason I cannot relearn security, remove key, no power to HVAC or radio, and false warnings at info reader.
Could a failed/failing ignition housing be the issue? I don't like throwing parts at problems without confirming 1st it's the culprit, but without scanner data or the education to go forward...

I am thinking the ECM/BCM does not know the ignition is on. So I guess my question is if that is the housing or??? What actually isresponsibie for that process. Is it housing? Ignition cylinder? Ignition switch (it's an OEM new part) or another switch attached in column area? Or is it something like a relay that is commanded on by the ignition?
