Unhappy Fuel level sensor connections?

OK, I read all the previous posts on this and could not find an answer to: "On the level sensor in the tank, to which terminal is the blue wire connected and to which terminal is the purple wire connected?" The terminals are marked 'I' , 'II', 'III'. 'I' is on one side, 'II' and 'III' are on the other, with 'III' being on the outer edge.

After replacing the fuel pump, the gauge reads empty; the message center says "Low Fuel"; and the DTC is: "fuel level sensor out of range".

I think I have tried every combination by just turning the key on and not turning off the MIL. The gauge did not react. Do I have to turn off the MIL before the fuel gauge will work?

Thanks Guys

Try a battery negative cable disconnect for 20 to 30 minutes to reset the BCM and ECM to turn off the MIL, the fuel gauge if connected correctly should start working.

It says left and right. It does not say which side is the front.

Pictures don't show the wires to the sender. I'll try using all the different combinations while resetting the MIL between each combination. Let you know what I find.

The hoses only go one way, I'd think if you had yours in hand and looked at the pics you would have a reference.

Not talking about the hoses. Concerned about the wires for the level sensor. Found this on another thread. The "I" has the purple wire and the "II" has the blue wire. The "III" is not used. The ohm resistance between "I" and "II" varies between 40 ohms and 180 ohms. The wires DO NOT connect to the outer most terminals. They connect to the terminals closest to the center of the sensor.

I found on my '08 that the MIL had to be cleared before the fuel gauge would work.
