2007 HHR key fob no longer work after dead battery

*edited* I was mistaken! It's a 2008 not 2007 as I mentioned in my original post - sorry about that

I did a couple search here on this forum about the issue I am having with my 2007 HHR.

The door lock is no longer responsive to key fob and the tire pressure is no longer displayed instead it showing double dashes " -- " after my wife accidentally turn on the headlight and let the battery go flat that she had to get a jump.

From what I learn in my searches that the RCDLR is probably messed up or no longer working since both door lock and tire pressure is tied to it and it's a known problem but the search result also shows that it affect 2008 or up. My HHR is 2007 thou.

The resolution I am finding for this issue is to "take it to the dealer" so far.

I am wondering if there is an another resolution for this issue other than "take it to the dealer" since it an old car and I don't really want to invest too much into it to get key fob working on it again. I have a serial jtag port. is there a firmware out there on the net I can grab and reprogram it or some trick to reprogram it without having to purchase a 1000 dollar programming unit for it?

Is this issue also known on a 2007 HHR too?

Thank you

I’m not aware of the 2007 model year having to be reflashed after a dead battery, you could try a battery lobotomy, to reset the computers, simply disconnect the negative battery terminal for a full 30 minutes, then reconnect it, do this at the battery itself

No, the RCDLR firmware is a 2008 only problem.

You may coincidentally have 2 separate issues. Have you inspected the inside of the fob, or tried a new battery? Have the TPM sensors ever been replaced?

Thanks, I will give this a try!

I think my model is a fleet model. It doesn't have rear side windows but it come with remote start and onboard Star.

Maybe a little clarification first .
Your other post and your bio both say that you have a 2008 HHR.. Is this the same car ?

No rear side windows is just an option. Code is AA5.
onboard Star ? Guess you mean OnStar.

Wait, your other thread(which you never updated) was about your 2008 HHR. Is this the same car?

Edit: you beat me to the punch, FMG!

I have put in a new battery in the fob and it still doesn't fix it and we have two key fobs for it. Also, two of the sensors in tires was replaced last year. It all was working fine until battery went flat then it no longer worked

There is one thing. About a month before the battery went flat, both key fobs wouldn't always unlock the door every time required repeated presses to unlock it. We are not getting a SVC tire pressure or something like that (can't remember what it was showing on dash before we replaced the sensors) even it showing no pressure read out when we start the HHR. We were getting that message every time we start HHR before we had two of the sensor in tires replaced.
