So since I confirmed it to be 2008, the re-flash is the only way to fix this issue? Can RCDLR be removed and shipped somewhere to be re-flashed along with the key fob without going to a dealer where they charge an arm and leg to do it?

You could call your dealer's service department, ask them how much it will cost to flash the RCDLR. Maybe it's not so much as you fear.

Just got off phone with them. They quoted me 500 to 600 dollar to fix this. I knew I was going to get a quote like this from them.

They must want to diagnose it also. I'm not sure about dealerships, but if I tell my mechanic I've got X problem, and I want them to perform service Z, they'll do just service Z. They won't guarantee that it will fix problem X, but they'll do it.

From what I've read about dealerships, they don't guarantee their diagnosis anyway. They'll just keep charging you for parts and services until they stumble upon the fix. There are good dealers, too.

The TSB is in this thread, perhaps if you ask them to specifically perform this, they will skip right to it, at a greatly reduced price.

Thanks....

I called another Chevy dealer and no answer yet. I'll be sure to let them know about this TSB.

So far the only way to fix this is by a Chevy dealer then? I can't go slap a serial jtag on module circuit board and fix it myself?

I do repairs on bootstraps or firmwares on some types of hardware that uses firmwares but never did a car or truck module before so just wondering it it was possible for a DIY repair ..

The problem is they need to get the new calibration tables from Tis3web, and that needs money. I think a 1 day subscription is around $50.

I stopped at locksmith and they said they can reprogram the fob back to HHR but they weren’t sure about the “firmware” upgrade

So I went to two different dealers. One quote me at 122 dollars and other one at 189 dollars but both wasn’t sure it that is the reason why fob not working.

Can locksmiths reprogram it back the normal way or the firmware have to be upgraded for it to work again?

Thank you

does the car have windows in the rear doors but not the quarter; that is AA5. a panel has no glass in the doors and the fob is programmed differently.
The CAR is programmed to the fob. I have no clue what you mean
reprogram it back the normal way

No, what the locksmith is proposing is not what you want. That is not the flash for the RCDLR. I can't say if you'll need that after the reflash, but for now, just the reflash.
