Yes get the ignition recall done, and any other pending recalls... I just don't think the power steering would be covered as a recall.

It’s not, the EPS motor is an extended warranty, not a recall!

Go to the GM dealership across the river, talk to the service manager, explain the rough treatment you received, and the recalls outstanding. Wait till you talk to the GM rep.

Okay thanks. I'll see to the other recalls & hope for the best with the power steering. I still think the dealership service department dropped the ball by not scanning it first before working on it & whatever they did to make it much wore than it was when I took it in. Really torn between just walking away & letting my mechanic fix it as soon as he's able or risk letting the dealership mess with it again & maybe make it even worse yet. :/

Agreed but you aren’t going back to that dealership, are you?

I think it depends on what, if anything, the so-called Customer Relations Specialist that GM has assigned to my complaint is willing to do for me. He isn't supposed to call me until tomorrow so I should know then if they are going to try & address the problem of the dealership making my power steering worse. If they are inclined to try & make it right, I'll certainly ask if I can take it across the river into the next county to the only other Chevy dealership within 50 miles of me. I don't know why they'd insist I go back to the same one but ya never know. One funny thing is that the guy I talked to about the car being worse & asked why it was worse & why the power steering message was missing etc & he kept saying he didn't know....was in fact the technician that worked on it. I noticed it on the service papers yesterday. Or he signed off on it anyway as being the tech that did the work. He kept talking about how much the big wrench pliers thing that were left in there cost & it looks like he's the one that left it. lol

An FYI. Doesn't have to be a Chevrolet dealer. You can take it to any of the other GM dealers( Cadillac etc.) As long as they're willing to take on the repair as a "GM is paying for it" understanding.

Oh thanks! I didn't know that & will look into it. It may sound like I'm picking on the dealership I've just been to but they did make my car worse & didn't even scan it or check the power steering fuse until I specifically asked them to. Then they left the cover off the fuse & somehow poked a hole in it. I have no idea what they did to make it worse but I truly am very leery about taking it back over there.

Well, yes, but they've already replaced the EPS motor at the first dealership, you see. So it seems doubtful that I can get a second replacement even at a different dealership. I'm getting it scanned myself somewhere to try & find out what's really going on with it.
