2008 2.2 starting hard, runs bad, surges

Took the car to a dealership today. Since the fuel pump is under the extended warranty, I will let them do it. I am a little nervous about "others" violating my car....
The first dealership I called wouldn't be able to fix it before the 16th of July. Oh sure, I can just be without my car for three weeks or so. NOT!
I tried another place and they should be able to fit it in in the next couple days or so. It isn't really roadworthy as is so i just went ahead and dropped it off with instructions not to fix anything that wasn't covered by the warranty. I would have put the pump on myself just to have the vehicle back but it was about $234 bucks just for the pump assembly plus the time involved. And my hoist is being taken up by my Falcon at the moment. So we'll see what happens.
Thanks for the responses.

Got the car back today with a new fuel pump. Runs well now. Still throws a #2 cyl misfire code but fuel economy and power back to normal. Service writer said the misfire code may be a sticking valve problem they've had on some of the ecotec engines. So that's the good news. On the way back from the dealership, Our Chevy Astro van blew out the drain valve and lost all of its coolant. Hopefully it didn't get hot enough to damage the engine. Found a new drain valve finally but part of the old one is stuck in there so I had to trailer the vehicle 20 miles back here to where I can get it up on the hoist to see if I can get the pieces out. Temps well over 100 degrees today. Miserable!
