2008 Base (LS) Consuming/Loosing Coolant
#21
Mistakes and the occasional "Full-blown Homer" make us Human, don't feel badly. It could be worse ya know, my attempts at remodeling usually end up in a trip to the emergency room where the nurses and doctors call me "Tim Allen's little brother".

Did you happen to take pics? Find any quirks to the job? The manual seems to say that you need to replace the head bolts, are the "stretch bolts". Did you go to a machine shop at all, what did they say/do?
When I priced out the job, it "seemed" to come in at around $300 just for parts for the head gasket repair. Please elaborate.

I did the repair with a friend who is a mechanic, I am not quite so inclined. He said you have to replace the head bolt because of the stretching.
The amount I spent included a new thermostat, water pump and we sent the head to a machine shop.
I talk about this in the thread titled "Disappearing coolant." https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/disappearing-coolant-39502/
