This would really help many people here and give them the information they need to tell the dealer when they go in. It will uncranky most of them and some may elect you our King.

Seriously the information would be a blessing to many.
As soon as I get the documentation I will be more than happy to post up the part numbers etc. I would scan it, but my all in one took a big crap last week and will no longer power on

The majority of this time was due to the hard brake pedal issue, and the lengthy stay followed two brake controller reprograming attempts, and I simply told my service writer I didn't want the car back until you can fix it, or tell me when it can be fixed.
And as far as the Lemon Law comment, in MO you can make a lemon law claim if ANY defect is not fixed within 4 trys in 18 months, so yes, I could concievably get a new car out of a squeeky sunroof
In one of my many manufacturing position before finaly locating a Chemical/Engineering related-manufaturing job, I spent nearly a year supervising all the Nissan Quest (aka 99% ford windstar) at the Plant in Avon Lake Ohio. Final quality control was obviously one of our main concerns. The vehicles came off the line and were driven to a drop point, our quality techs drove under the bridge in a bus, did a once over (from a long detailed list) , drove them back to our (Nissan) staging area added accesories (tvs, fog lamps, wheel protection nuts, running boards, splash guards, auto dim mirrors..etc). They get a 15 minute road test, over bumps, shifting manually, brakes, lights etc. We put the PGF(that white film you see on new cars) on and took them to the waiting train, or truck to be shipped.

During my time we found all sorts of defects, one notable being a large grapfruit sized dent in the passenger rear roof/liftgate. LOL, I saw it when I lost a bet with the workers and they made me PGF cars for half a shift. So happens at 6"1" I am a few inches taller most of the line workers (hope that is the reason no one saw) at ford an everyone in the Nissan side (approx 50 people). So a grapfruit size dent got painted, passed through all the stations after paint (a metric shizz ton of them if you know assembly plants well) was inspected by the ford workers, the nissan workers, and through everything but the wrapping plastic, and I found this monster dent...lol
The dent was on mutiple panels, but the paint was perfect, so it was after the show-metal was put on but before paint.

Point of the story is ANYthing can slip through, ANY manufacturer, and can make it to you. If its 1/1000 for minor problems and 1/10,000 for major problems then there are 1000 nearly perfect 08 hhrs out there, and 99,000 great ones and 10 shiz boxes. Those 10 unlucky people will lemon law themselves a new car, and that 1000 will have to see a dealer way too often. Hang in there and don't let up.

I am hanging in, believe me. And as long as no new problems arise in the near term, its all good. I love the car, but I am just annoyed at the amount of time it has been out of service, and when I walk into the service department, the service manager says "hey Dave, hows it goin" I dont like to get that familiar with any service department employee!

Nope:

407.569 MO Revised Statutes: Affirmative Defenses

An alleged nonconformity does not substantially impair the use, market value, or safety of the motor vehicle.

also:

408.571:

The new vehicle is out of service by reason of repair of the nonconformity by the manufacturer, through its authorized dealer or its agents, for a cumulative total of thirty or more working days, exclusive of down time for routine maintenance as prescribed by the manufacturer, since delivery of the new vehicle to the consumer. The thirty-day period may be extended by a period of time during which repair services are not available to the consumer because of conditions beyond the control of the manufacturer or its agents.

I'm not trying to be unfriendly or anything, just a little reminder of reality. I really do hope they can fix your car.

On Going Brake and Personal Comment Issues

I've stayed off of this site because of the amount of misinformation, disinformation, and personal attacks/counterattacks; however, I decided that a matter of fact update was needed. Regardless of certain persons attacks on me about trying to get my brake issues fixed I will share the results of a meeting (telephone) with GM reps regardling the brake pedal issues. Simply put GM is denying any problems with the brakes and stated, "they work the way they were designed." The GM rep refused to provide an answer to the question as to why did they put out four service bulletins between March 08 and Oct 08, to include specific vin numbers series. Luckily the service bulletin dated 18 Sept 08, "fix" did partially help with the brake issue; but not completely. GM's position (according to the GM rep I spoke with) is to warm the brakes up before taking off and that's it! Funny that someone on this web site now states that there is another "fix" Evidently, the GM rep I spoke with doesn't know about this "new" fix, nor does any of the three Chevy dealer, Saturn or Solstice dealers I contacted know of any servicebulletins that will permanently fix the brake issue (regardless of the different issues). If there is documentation to show a "new repair bulletin" dated after the28 Oct 08, I would love to see it. What I would really like to see is documentation or specifics regarding the persons who had their HHR SS purchased back by GM or someone who actually won a Lemon Law case because of the brake issue. The reasons people on this web site get torque, including myself, is for persons to post undocumented opinions/rumors that they agree with or in some cases disagree with. I always deal with facts and that's what I would like to see more of when providing opinions or information directed at "fixing a problem" (legal or mechan ical) on this web site. Lastly, I provided my personal email address to two persons to send me just that, facts about things they posted regarding the brake issue and all I received in return was a reference to this web site. To that unnamed person please take some time and delete my perso nal email address to receive any information you set me up for regarding posts to this website. Thanks in advance

Number one: You will get no personal attacks from me regarding the brake issue as I have spent a large amount of time dealing with GM and service people on it. My car had the brake controll mod reprogrammed three times, and after the third time I told my service writer to keep the car until it is fixed and I would be happy to drive my rental.
After a month the regional service manager came to my dealership and drove my car, and gave me a call. We had a meeting in the dealership service managers office and he told me a fix would be coming in 4-8 weeks. This was the middle of October, and he asked me to take my car back, and he would make my October car payment for the hassle. My car is in the shop now getting a vacuum pump and canister fitted to fix the low vacuum pressure at start up brake problem. I will be posting part numbers as soon as I get my car and paperwork back. And if you would like me to email you a scan of the work order, I would be more than happy to.

As far as your email goes you would have set this up when you first joined. If you don't want emails from the site then you need to go to Edit Profile and change your settings. It appears you are using 2 different user names (GIJOE). So you will need to edit both profiles.

I also believe that you or your alias (GIJOE) posted your email in a public forum so you will need to edit that also.

hmmm

hmmmmm.... i like the style/package of the HHR very much. I am glad i never bought one tho. Reading some of these problems just turn me off a potential purchase. My opinion has nothing to do with '' support north american economy''......it has to do with buying a product and having faith it wont nickle and dime me . Just recently, the 2010 chevy equinox was introduced at the Detroit auto show. It looks fantastic inside and out...but then i start thinking of past GM vehicles with crappy brakes, body leaks, poor electrical problems, etc...and maybe i think a 2004 toyota rav4 would be far less troublesome. I hope the $25 billion loan buys gm a bunch of toyota/honda engineers.
