Dear kewatin,
I have read your post about your 2011 HHR experiencing air conditioning issues. I understand the frustration that you are experiencing with the situation.
If you choose, you can provide me with an update of your visit to the dealership this week. Providing me with this information would allow me to perform further research about your situation if you are not able to get this resolved.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service

thank you for your interest,to bring you up to date the dealer called me to-day to bring the car in and that they were going to install a new compressor, which they did.they said everything checked out &they were sure that this was the problem.the dealer was polite and did their best to satisfy me .and the fact that their air conditioning machine was defective and had to be replaced was reason repair took longer than neccesary.

AC Kicking Off
My 2008 A/C is also ice cold, however my wife's 2010 A/C has just started shutting off at red lights in 90 degree heat -- and the engine stalls or chokes down. I rode with her and it went in and out from warm to cool. The dealership just checked it out for 40 miles of driving and said they could not duplicate the problem. They decided to clean the throttle body to make sure the stalling was not related to that. It has 21k miles. Anyone had this problem?

Dear DoubleHHR,
I have read about the 2010 HHR that is shutting off at read lights. I did read that the dealership cannot duplicate the issue. I understand the frustration that you must be experiencing with this situation. Here are a couple ideas for you to think about;
1) You can request to have a technician or service manager go for a ride with you. You know your vehicles more than any one else. By requesting them to go for a ride with you, you would be able to point out exactly what you and your wife are experiencing.
2) You can also visit a different General Motors dealership for a second opinion.
I hope that you have a great day.
Sincerely,
Michelle, Chevrolet Customer Service

This thread died out in 2011, Michelle hasn't been heard from for a long time.
Who is replacing the compressor? Are they recommending for you to replace almost all of the other parts and flushing what is left?
When a compressor blows up it leaves a lot of stuff behind in the tubing, coils etc. That stuff is deadly to the new compressor.
Any good mechanical shop should be able to diagnose. Is there a CheckEngineLight?
