A couple of places I can recommend for you...
There's...
New Age Automotive Service

Mt. Holly, NC 28120
704-712-5235
Ask for Russ or Dawn
There's also...
Victory Chevrolet
717 Rhyne Road
Charlotte, NC 28214
866-900-6224
Ask for the Service Manager Chuck Moretti
And if you feel safe limping it to Concord, NC. There's....
Ben Mynatt Chevrolet
281 Concord Parkway South
Concord, NC 28027
704-706-2297
Ask for Drew Vogel in the Service Department
Glad it's back in your possesion Tabbie, but I can't believe that moron added insult to injury by breaking the door handle off. What a five star bozo.

I know Chuck the Service Manager at Victory in a round about way, although it's been ages since I've been to the dealership.
They have a great reputation, but be prepared for the diagnosis to be honest and to the point, we're all still very concerned that your engine may be fatally damaged.
Good luck and keep us posted, OK.

Decided to call Russ at the mount holly place ... Not sure why the engine would be fatally damaged... Not smelling anything but is making noises it wasn't making before I took it to the bozo...dropping it off tomorrow

Russ will get you fixed up Tabbie, unfortunately, the symptoms you've described are indicative of an Ecotec engine that's wounded.(Hopefully not enough to be beyond economical repair)
These engines are very dependable, my '06 has 401,244 miles on it and it's still running as smooth as glass.
But Ecotec engines are fragile in some key areas, they will not tolerate overheating, or operation with a low oil level. Being very aluminium intensive engines, even purely accidental abuse caused by an undetected leak, will kill them in short order.

I Got My Baby Back!
thank you all for your help and suggestions!!! Russ Did take care of me!!! It costs a good 960 but my whole timing system was messed up... After it was fixed he walked me through what he replaced , chain guide , tensioner, and even showed me what was causing all the problem... Wish I'd have taken it to him first... He is my new mechanic! Other guy ended up texting me telling me he had my cams, because I'd called him about the door and he said it was like that when he got it...no integrity, so he texted to say he got the cams and I texted him back to tell him there was s thumping so I dropped it off, and got a different diagnosis... He say, get someone else to fix your car! Well duh, he sure wasn't gonna get it back! Lol Thanks do much!
I also pulled an Abs code at Russ's shop and I've been getting an esc sensor if I'm slightly pulling... Bet it's the same thing, I'm always replacing breaks and rotors, did them in June over $400 and they have been squealing since at least july

Cool beans Tabbieangel!!
Russ is a first class technician and diagnostician, so I was pretty dang sure he'd get you back on the road.
As far as the other bozo, three words...Small Claims Court.
(I'm a semi-retired Attorney, so I can tell you that you have valid case for litigation against the first guy)
