40lb Rock vs My Oil Pan

Once the tow truck driver arrived we pushed the HHR out of the woods and onto an undeveloped road, and he towed it back to my dealership free (even though the warranty only allows it to be towed to the nearest dealeship). So what does it take to install a new oil pan? I'm trying to avoid paying for it.

Looks like it's $415 including parts/labor/discount. One day to order parts and under three hours installed. Should be done by tomorrow afternoon.
The price might be better than normal, but I'd rather avoid it if possible.
Like you mentioned in the "This is Bullshi*" topic, maybe it's time for that airbag kit. Lifted off-road, lowered on-road.

Whenever something breaks or gets messed up on my ride I see it as an opportunity to upgrade. Might as well make the best out of a bad situation.

The rest is labor. Man. most auto repair places would do that job for $80-100 + parts.
Just a tip,

Can't you get an "employee discount" on labor & parts?
If not, man - that is cheezy!

Labor rates are pretty high here in Colorado, whether you get a discount or not. I got a small ding in my hood that broke the paint about 4 or 5 months ago and it cost me almost $600 and 3 days to get it repaired. I couldn't believe it was that much, so I took it to both independent and dealer repair shops. They were within about $50 of each other and the ding wasn't much bigger than half the size of my pinkie finger nail. Go figure. Ended up taking it to the dealer for the extra $50 since it's a new car and I figured it would be best to let them do it.
Case in point Mike...when I had to have the radio reprogrammed when I put the new 6 disc in, you told me it should be around $20...dealer charged me $89. Obviously things are cheaper in California than they are here in Colorado.

At the $80.00 an hour or so most shops charge around here it doesn't take long to rack up a hefty repair bill!! Even the "Independents" charge about the same. It's really rough when you're on a fixed income, but everything else keeps going up!
