I just pulled up my service price guide here at work for both the 2.2 and 2.4, parts and labor before a cust discount using gm parts would run 507.54 plus a LOF.

177.68 parts (pan 164.68, adhesive 13.0)
299.20 Labor
20.00 shop supplies
10.66 tax (6%)

so at 400 thats not a bad deal, although we give a much better discount to our employees, 45 an hour and 10% over list on parts

we multiply warranty by 1.4, which by your labor time gives you 2.8, it really depends which time guide you use. for accurate quotes i use the mitchell

Oil Pan

You have to watch that, I hit something and it put a Hole in my Oli, Trans Pan. This is when I found out that the HHR does not have a Dip stick for the Trans. The Trans is a sealed unit.
Info only
Good Luck

Here in CA our shop rates range from $80-120/hr, depending on the shop.

My only point was that dropping a pan and replacing it shouldn't take 3-hours. I would try going to a smaller independent shop where the mechanics are "hungry" and want to get a bunch of work done in a day.

And Deb - do you really think it took them an hour to reflash your radio?
I'm betting "not." (minimum billing rate is an hour though).

If it was the dealer where you bought your HHR, you would think they might work a deal with you...not always the case though.

I sat in the waiting room for nearly 2 hours the day they did this. I'm sure it didn't take that long to do the actual reflash...but they said something about having to download something from GM in order to be able to do it and that's what took so long. Yes...it was the dealership where I bought the HHR and that's what made me so mad when they charged me that horrific rate. Because of that, I've been talking to Bryce about meeting with their people and switching to his dealership for any future service I may need on my HHR.

I've always been told sales sells the first car, and service sells every car after that
