AC problem

My 06 HHR w/2.4 L engine has a A/C problem. When the A/C is turned on the condenser in front of the radiator vibrates violently. I have a tree in the front yard that produces a lot of crap that accumulates in tghe cowl area. That area was extremely dirty . I cleaned up most of that stuff but the problem continues. Any Ideas out there?

Welcome aboard artr2!

One thing to check is the mounts that hold the condenser/radiator, if they've failed or whole assembly has come loose it will vibrate in sympathy with the engine.

If you have a desire to spend the evening:
Dismantling air conditioning radiator. Washing with a strong jet of water, use a machine for washing the car (or a visit to the car wash).
When the water pressure will beat the all **** out of your radiator - drying and mounting on the car. Simultaneous test fixes and joints.
Conditioner need will fill new refrigerant (exclusive - professional work).
Work outdoors, observe safety precautions (gloves, respirator), because the refrigerant - poison.

But the vibration - not necessarily a consequence of a dirty radiator. May, first be necessary to exclude other causes.

The problem was....

the air conditioning fan in front of the engine. During normal usage the fan develops small cracks at the base of the blade assy. If you drive thru large puddles, water splashes up into the engine compartment and if there are enough of a crack on any of the blades it will break off. Replaced the fan assy & cool breezes have returned. Thank you to the 2 posters who tried to help me.

Well that makes sense, glad it was a simple fix and that you're back on the road vibration free.
