Well.. that moment you hope never happens to you happened to me...

Fortunately no one was hurt.

I'm curious for those of you that have had incidents with your HHR.. does this appear to be repairable?

A couple of quick notes:

The car was a 2011 LS w/ 48k miles.
Driver airbag deployed.
Unable to open driver door.

If you have insurance they should be able to tell you. BUT I SUSPECT, they MAY total it.

It's surprising how fast costs total up when done by a body shop, with insurance involved. But it kind of depends on the wholesale value of the car. I'm guessing, of course, but I would say $7,000-$8,000.

To answer your question directly....yeah, it's fixable....but again, I doubt if they will.

Oh, I probably should say.....sorry for your troubles. I trust no one was hurt.

Did you drive it home? I dinged my '88 Corsica like that when a guy turned in front of me.
Snoopy's estimate of $7,000 to $8000 seems about right.
The driver door may not open because the hood is shoved into it. if the other doors open, then the body is alright.
A tough call..

On my 2006 was hit from the side front and it was was $5000.00 and it was just one headlight and the hood was replaced and front bumper. So I can see easily over $9,000.00 for yours, so it will probably be totaled by your insurance co.

If it were me with that kind of damage I would want it to be totaled.I would not be comfortable having that kind of damaged repaired.I would feel the car would never be right again.

One thing most people dont consider when getting that kind of damage is..what damage did the trans/eng internal loads cause? These have parts with clearances that all of a suddenly disappear for split second, parts shift and get jammed up. Usually IF there is damage, it doesnt appear for awhile, but will down the road depending on how hard the hit was.

My 2007 was sideswiped when it was about 10 months old. Damage to the front bumper, left front fender, drivers door, left mirror was destroyed, left rocker panel, and a slight bend to the hood. Minor undercarriage damage to the front end. Cost to repair was over $5,000.00.
