Hiya, I'm a proud new HHR owner as of June 13th.

I've got a little over 100 miles on it and the DIC is telling me to service the airbags. I can't really take it in for a while since the dealer doesn't have anyone to run diagnostics on Saturdays and I can't take off work during the week. Is this really a big issue -- could the airbag be physically defective or is it more likely a bad sensor or something that can be fixed quickly?

I'm wondering if I messed up by buying on Friday the 13th. I also just realized it doesn't have an antennna. The service guy said that's been happening a lot. I hope that's all and I'm not jinxed.

BTW, I traded in my Pickup of 12 years for this baby. Quite an adjustment, but I think I'm liking it!

 

I think I would make a bit of time to get the airbags "serviced".......prob not any worries, but better safe than sorry. As far as not having an antenna, seems like the cars get shipped w/o them attached, maybe check under the rear cargo shelf as that's where the cargo nets were put.

 

... And the front license plate holder.

Don't have anything in the storage bins. I looked in all the nooks and crannies, it's just not there. I think I'll go and buy a cheapy antenna. It's not that big a deal. The dealer will get me one, but they have to order it, fill out triplicate forms, blah, blah.

I guess I can take a day off for the airbag. It seems to be the passenger side that's at issue since the passenger airbag dash light quite working. I'm more annoyed with the warning message than anything.

 

No, the LS does not come w/ the cargo net, at least not anymore.

 

I just took in for service today. The passenger sensor wasn't working at all. They're going to pull parts from another HHR to get mine working so I don't have to wait on the parts. Should take better part of all day.

Oh, and they're getting me an antenna. :)

 

You could always got to stubbyantenna.com and order one that is much better looking than the stock version!

 

I probably will at some point, but I still want all my original equipment.

As for the airbag, they have now ordered me a new main module, whatever that is. I'm guessing that's my computer what do you call it, BCM? Is that bad? Sounds expensive.

I hope I don't have a lemon. I bought a new car because I didn't want to start putting my older truck in the shop all the time.

 

They replaced the SDM module, and airbag works now.

Now I need to go back for the new problem...no brake lights.

 

Gee, I hope you didn't actually try it out. now you need a new one.
