My 2010 HHR is having the same problem. Service Air Bag started coming on about a week ago. Car only has 22K Miles. The post about interference is interesting. I have been leaving my cell phone on the passenger seat so maybe that is the cause. Any other thoughts?

 

Duh - take it to the dealer!!! Case closed.

 

Had got my light "fixed". It turned out it was Service Bulletin PIO117 for 2009 _ 2010 HHR.

Based on the code thrown, They had to remove the passenger side kick panel and clean & add dielectric grease to the major connection inside along with taping the connection together. Must not have been done properly in assembly. The Service Manager stated this has been happening to the 09-10 at about 20,000 to 28,000 miles. Guess that's how long the corrosion takes to set in. Had it fixed under warranty and no issues afterward.

By the way I tried cell phones, GPS, CB Radio, Police Radio with Cell Repeater (don't ask) and did'nt have anything to do with the air bags light.... Just seems like a lame excuse on why a light would go off. Blame the customer...

 

Mine had this issues and they ended up replacing the whole belt. There was high resistanse in the unit and it would come and go. They did the die electric grease before and it did not help.

Note mine seem to be temp sensitive. It would come on in the afternoon after sitting in the sun at work all day. Once it sat in the garage at night it would not come back on till I left in the parking lot in the sun again. Also if the temps got below 50 degrees it would not come on.

There is also a TSB for this issue for the right seat but it was in my left seat.

I took it in and they replaced the belt in less than a hour. No muss no fuss. I love my dealer!

 

Mine comes on when its hot out or when i turn the heat to the floor any ideas? If its hot out and i put the air to the floor it goes off o_O

 

I would advise that you take it to a dealership and have it checked out. If you send me your name, address, vehicle identification number, and current mileage I can check out the history of your vehicle.
