Oh, and the passenger light is NOT a similar problem to what this thread started as.

The passenger presence sensor is in the seat pad and the connector is under the seat.

Thank you. I'll try that when I get a chance next week. It is my son's 2010 HHR (I have a 2011) and he's going back home in the morning.

Appreciate the replies.

Yeah, he told me that he was getting the Service Airbag light and then today he told me that sometimes the passenger airbag enabled light comes on.

The connector that Mitchell is telling me belongs there is completely different. It is identified as X211 Inflatable Restraint I/P Harness to the Body Harness; if you are faint of heart don't even look at how much one will set you back.

Help

Hi Sno White - can you tell me which side panel should be removed on the passenger side to see the yellow connector? I removed several, but am not sure I am seeing what I am supposed to. The yellow connector I see looks different and has a red tab that you'd push to release it. Thanks!!

Hi PStar,

Can you explain again where this yellow connector is located? Thanks! I've removed the passenger side kick panels but only see a yellow connector with a red release tab. Think I am in the wrong area of the passenger side. Help - thanks!

The panel in question is the right side of the passenger foot well.

Is this the yellow connector?

Thanks for the response!! So here is what I see when I remove that side panel by the front passenger door (to the right of the glove compartment). Is this the yellow connector I should disconnect and reconnect with dielectric grease?

Yes, in general yellow connectors are air bag/SRS related. Pull fuse #13 on the BCM and don't touch anything for 20 minutes to disarm the airbags.

Okay thanks! I had my repair shop run codes for another engine matter and he checked the airbag code. I'll call and ask him what they were, but recall him saying it was all passenger side and was a low voltage code and something about a ground issue - maybe a bare or broken wire with the passenger seat. If greasing the yellow connector doesn't work, I assume I should remove the two bolts and check under the seat for connection issues?? Should I unplug the negative side of the battery if I venture this far - esp before unplugging and plugging back any connections under the seat? Thanks again for the info!!

Either pull the fuse or disconnect the battery for 20-30 minutes before you touch anything related to the airbags. The SDM has a big capacitor in it to keep it alive after the main collision happens.
If the light is not on there will be no codes, they don't get stored.
