Air intake hose problem

So, I was replacing my air filter one day and some how managed to rip 2 huge holes in my air intake tube (the one that runs from the fender well to the air box). I went to the dealer to see how much a replacement would cost. $80!! Um, no, not gonna happen. I'm not paying that much for a crap part. I haven't been able to find any replacements from local salvage yards either. My question is, has anyone found a pretty good substitute for this part? Maybe a different material you can find at a hardware or auto parts shop? Or maybe you just made your own intake system, which I have thought about doing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Simple answer....yes, it's been done. Do a search in the top middle Search box using the term, "wooley worm" (common slang name). Many different threads just using that term.

That's an odd name. I searched, but really didn't come up with anything useful. Most said to just tape it, which I have done.

Did you try the spelling "wooly"? All kinds of threads on the subject.

Someone even used a clothes dryer duct piece for a replacement.

I've tried a few different ways of spelling. There were some who said they installed CGS intakes, but didn't really explain HOW they did it. I'll probably do a search for that here in a bit. But, so far I'm not really finding what I am looking for. I've gone to Autozone, Lowes, and a local heating and air store to look for some type of material that can replace the air duct tube, but no luck so far. I just can't believe that part is so expensive for being what it is. Call me cheap, but I can't justify the prices I'm seeing.

Nothing really, just looks ugly. I don't like looking at duct tape holding things in place under my hood lol

I believe that "Metallic DUCT tape" was mentioned NOT Duck tape.

Yet you Mentioned "cheap" what do you want; cheap, OEM, expensive. If you ask for cheap, don't put it down!

AND "Air intake hose" in the search returned lots of relevant threads.
