Airbag Light on?

I have a 2009 HHR LT, at 19,000 miles my air bag light came on I took it to the dealer and had it fixed under the B2B warranty. A little over 37,000 miles the airbag light came on intermittently and has been that way ever since. After reading multiple HHR forums and researching TSBs, I believe this is another short cut by GM. I have been in touch with them over the past 2 weeks and I will be taking her to the dealer for another diagnosis(no charge :). I have also reported this to NHTSA where a few(46) other owner have found them and posted their concerns and experiences. I will be keeping GM informed on what I find out from the dealer. What I would like for everyone to do is to place a complaint with the NHTSA that has had this issue. http://www.safercar.gov/
Thank you!

to the forum!

While we understand your concerns, please refrain from posting in every Airbag/SRS related thread, it just causes confusion and unneeded redundancy.

Please let us know what the diagnosis turns out to be, an illuminated SRS fault light indicates that the onboard diagnostics have found a system issue.

It's not an indication of GM cutting corners, or a endemic problem, unless and until NHTSA determines it is.

The most important thing is to have the fault rectified on your vehicle, continued operation with an SRS fault is unwise in the event of an accident, however unlikely.

It started acting up again at 37,000 miles? How many miles on it now?

Welcome to the site. I have two hhr's and I have no air bag issuses

Remember most people will take the time to report if they have problems but few will take time to report if there car has served them with out or very few problems.

Kind of amazing you don't know what's broken, but you are claiming a GM "short cut" is causing the light.

The main TSB I know of talks about placing cell phones, laptops and TechII scanners on the passenger seat RF signals turning the light on.

And don't forget parcels, grocery bags, and other "not a people" objects that can trigger an SRS warning light if placed on the RF seat.

Let us know what the code is. I work for GM and can look to possibly see if we can help solve your problem. There is a known fretting condition throughout the industry.

I think this is just a "scare" thread. The OP has not returned since the first post. Looking for attention, I believe.

And now after looking at the OP's profile, I am going to close the thread and consider deleting it.
