Alarm Question

My 2008 Panel has been running great and all systems performing flawlessly. Suddenly, my alarm has been triggering for no apparrent reason. Truck sits in the driveway with nobody near it and the horn starts beeping and lights start flashing. Wazup widdat? Any ideas?

Is your key fob in your pocket?

Nope. Last time it was sitting on the counter. Could the car battery be going dead? Could the key fob battery be going dead?

This may sound rude but here goes-could you have any dirt, body grease, oil, regular grease, sand, etc that maybe caught in the buttons or underneath the rubber buttons? If the buttons are slightly compressed because of stuff jammed in it-a temperature change could make the button make contact. Have you taken the fob apart to see if there is moisture built up inside from water or pocket moisture? Don't laugh, I've seen it before. (not my pocket moisture though)

I also used a club-yeah club-on my wifes old car and when it was extreamly hot and the club was on, it was close enough that somehow (expansion, osmosis, the amazing kreskin, who knows) it would slightly press against the horn and make it honk.

I wouldn't think it's the FOB battery going dead... then it wouldn't do anything. Not sure about the car battery.... I would suspect that it wouldn't cause this and you would have a hard time starting the car.....

Bad connection? Had that problem with the Firehawk, stupid alarm would self-trigger all the time b/c the connections weren't tight enough. Also caused some other problems, nothing major though (cranked every time, just noticed a few odd ammeter/voltmeter readings and the alarm).

Truck is all stock. I'll definitely check the batt connections though. And I'm gonna get new batts for the fob just in case.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll post back.

Or possibly the little button trigger in the door jamb.

My wife's QX4 has taken to doing the same thing. Seems that one of the little buttons is giving out after nearly 15 years. The stronger the wind, the more often the alarm would sound. Determined what the problem was while driving and the interior lamp flashing on and off. A little bit of foam tape, problem solved.
