I find the lower part of the heating system of the HHR to be absolutley useless when the heater switch is set to bi-level - there is practically no air pressure at all.

Right now it's a balmy -20°C/-4°F here and the floor heater is only marginally useful if I set the heater switch to floor only. Even then, the amount of air blowing is not that great when I put my hand down there.

Volume-wise it doesn't seem to be alot but just redirecting what little volume there is seemed to make a big difference.

Blackrose it does seem to be pretty poor. I like to think that GCarp redirection will help.

Last winter, after picking up HHR in September I took it back to the dealer complaining about the heat to the floor not working properly. They checked it out and said it was working fine and as designed. So, I guess someone didn't put much thought into the heating of the feet. The opening for the vent is fairly large so if you redirect the flow and constrict the opening it should help with heating.

I'm going to take a look at what GCarp did and see if I can rig up something using some sort of square "plastic" tubing.

We have temperture around -13F here this week, and it is a fact that hot air seam to lost is way down to my feet when I put it on defrost + down area.

But when the windshield is defrost I switch it to the feet area and it work good....

I would have preferred to use plastic but had the aluminum available and it was east to work with. If you come up with something, I'd like to know about it, I don't like the way it looks ... but it works!

I have an appointment to take my car in this Friday due to the loud noise with the heater and my feet no getting warm. I will keep this board updated to what they say.

I'll bet you get the standard answer ... "It's working as it was designed"

Leaky-poor design if you ask me...

The answer actually was that there was something wrong with the actuator in the heater box assembly. They ordered a new part and hopefully I will have my baby back tonight.
