another broken sun/moonroof
Well I washed the HHR friday to get it all spiffy looking to go take some pics for the calendar thing and enden up spending most of the day into the late afternoon detailing it and it was dark by the time I was finished.
So I had the sunroof open and my music up while I was cleaning and after all was done I hit the sunroof button to close it and heard the CRACK at about half way closed, then the roof opened again by its self. I know right then what had happened
I didn't bother to take any photos because it looks just like Dory but mine was on the passenger side. I looked at it for a minute and figured out how to place the spring setup down so I could close the roof ( it was gettin' cloudy and I need my car tomorrow)
Now in the moring I get to call the dealer and let them know what happened and fight with them about all the fun stuff that goes along with this fix. My car has 40,000miles on it and I'm afraid they are going to try to make me pay for it. I guess I'll let them know about all of you with the same problem and hope they cover it.
Any tips???? I'll keep yall posted!

I think some people indicated that a rivot had broken. If that's the case, and the dealer says, $400 or whatever, you might consider doing the rivot yourself.
Also, if it is the windscreen portion of the pop-up, you might want to assess how beneficial the windscreen is!!

it is the part of the plastic frame that pops up with the wind screen on it. Its a plastic piece that connects the pop up portion to the frame where the sunroof hits to lower the windscreen so the roof can close. If that makes since, its late! Maybe JX3 can post that pic again. it is not just a rivet on mine.

Please note that mine was not "just the rivet" either.

thanks for the pics again JX3,
Okay I took it in this morning and I'm screwed
I was there for an hour and they wanted to bust into it and find out what the problem was, even though they had one in for the same thing a few days earlier. I tried to tell them what was up but of course they didn't want to hear it. So I told them I don't have the money to get it fixed right now since my manu warranty is expired and I made the guy call the warranty company I bought an extended warranty though when I purchased the car. Come to find out they don't cover that either. So I'm stuck, I don't have an extra $1700.00 hangin' around anywhere so I think I'm going to bust into it and see if I can't just remove that wind screen and then I'll put on one of those plastic ones that go on the roof infront of the sunroof to cut down the noise. Does anyone know why I shouldn't do this?????? I might wait to do it until next summer and hope that Chevy gets alot of these and decides to fix them all for free Ya right! But I shouldn't need it in the winter anyway.
