Ok the cables are free and lubed, as RJ stated above you may need to adjust the cables. As for tge return spring, someone just posted about a return spring they rigged

It’s like it’s backwards.

If I push the pedal hard to the floor and I go to put it in gear it doesn’t go but if I put a little more pressure on the shifter it starts moving. I got no clue what happened. This is the first stick car I’ve ever had to investigate. I bought it off my Nextdoor neighbor to scrap. It sat since 2017. I was able to jump it to move it and the fuel line exploded from being rusty. So I pushed it into my driveway and decided to fix them. Replacing the fuel lines I started fixing everything else that wasn’t working and immediately fell in love with 😆 it’s been the best $300 I ever spent. My wife wants me to get rid of it but I won’t.. ever. I hope this isn’t the end for her (the car)

Sounds like either a bad clutch master cylinder or you have no fluid in the system.
The brakes and the clutch share the brake fluid reservoir.
How’s the fluid level ?

Bingo! Ya nailed it. I just went out to check the fluid and noticed that it was low. Funny I never noticed a leak. So I added some. Put it in reverse and started the car so I can back it into the driveway.. huge puddle of fluid on the ground

good call! I never noticed any leaks. I cant tell where it’s coming from but I’m pretty sure it’s it’s one of the two cylinders or even both. I always thought that that spring was just an assist spring and some people even take it off so they could get a feel for their clutch. I never messed with a clutch before so I didn’t actually know. that’s why I love this car. Every day is an adventure.

Once you get it leak-free, don't forget to bleed the slave cylinder/ TOB(inside the bellhousing).

will do I’m about to dive into it and see exactly where the fluid is coming from. I may be changing both cylinders. I’m sure I’ll be asking questions 😆 I’m glad my wife found this page

Found the issue

I started digging in to see where the issue was and immediately saw this just laying there.. I don’t know what ya call this clip but I hope this tiny little clip rusting off was the cause of all my problems. If anyone knows what they call these please let me know.

You can see the clip is still on the fitting

But it was all in pieces
