Anyone else have these issues?

Well the HHR is at the dealership. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced these problems.

1. A clunking noise from the front end when going in reverse and turning.
2. It looks like Brake Fluid has been spilling out of the resivoir (and the cap is on).
3. When opening the rear lift gate it sounds like it's rubbing against the body some where (just not sure where).
4. Top of the interior seems to rattle when driving in the back on the passenger side.
5. The wife and I were driving on Wednesday when all of a sudden it sounded like a baseball card was stuck in bicycle spokes. First I thought maybe a flat but the steering wheel wasn't shaking. Turns out this is going to be a "overhaul" or new transmission.
6. And of course the recall because it's not equipped with the roof rail airbags.

Overall, we've been happy with it and I was very surprised to see that a two year old vehicle with under 20,000 miles needs transmission work. We're the only owner and definitely don't abuse the HHR. I'm just happy it's still covered under the factory warranty.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems. Thankfully I have had none of the issues you listed, and I'm at 61,000 miles. Some of your problems have been listed by others and are fairly common, but the transmission is not something that I have heard others talking about failing. Hope all goes well and you are cruising again very soon.

1.I believe this is covered by TSB. Should be fixable

2. My reservoir never leaked, but was replaced due to a sensor issue

3. Mine has sounded like this in cold weather for awhile and frankly it hasn't bothered me enough to have it looked at

4. Many folks have had various headliner rattles. a GOOD dealer should be able to take care of it

5. Nope, haven't seen anyone else have this happen. Sounds like just a bad trans was installed in your car.

Good luck with the repairs!

Not liking hearing about the baseball card in the spokes thing....mine sort of sounds like that but I was thing more like injectors? What other symptoms of the tranny led to that conclusion for them? Hard shifts? Sloppy shifts??

I had no idea it was the transmission until the rep. told me but then I also work in the insurance industry so I have limited knowledge as far as automotive goes. The acceleration was very rough but the strange thing was that the shifting was a little hesitant coming out of first. Little rough but nothing that would've made me think transmission. They say I could get it back by Tuesday but we'll see. I told the rep. to take their time and don't feel pressured by me to hurry.

Is this a 2008? I haven't seen your problems on my 2006 LS.

3. I had this problem on my liftgate and had the dealer look at it. He said he's seen several come in with bad shocks on the rear hatch. Replaced them both under warranty and it's smooth as butter now. Whenever I open it now I expect the sound and am pleasantly surprised when it doesn't happen.

Did they ever tell you what failed inside the transmission?
