Back from the dead---advice please

Well , it was only been a little over A MONTH AND A HALF !!!!!!!!!!!!.....That's how long it took me to get my very muched missed panel back , since i gently put in in a ditch the 1st night of the Durham , NC blizzard....Can anyone please tell me how to make Allstate give me what I paid for....They told me they would not pay to have the remains of some duct tape removed...the local dealer did try ,but as they warned me , it did cause some damage....the tow and storage company said they would put a tarp over my car , but did not....rain and more snow were predicted....i drove by the storage facility and put plastic and tape on myself.....Allstate said that I caused it and not the accident.....my panel sat thru numerous snow and rain storms with the rear door tore half off {it happened when it was being pulled out of the ditch....i have a list of things that were not properly done...or not done at all , and some things that i have no clue how they could have been damaged on the oposite side of the car where there was no damage from the wreck.....I am so so so very very very truly that i just don't know what to do

Well that sucks . Sorry to hear it. Photos might have saved you , Did you take any of it as it was exposed to the elements ? Before you took matters into your own hands ( which no one here would blame you for) Pics should save you.

Did you use a body shop approved/recommended by your insurer? If so, they should guarantee the work.

You do have recourse with the insurance company. But the only way you're going to get some results is to be the squeaky wheel. You'll have to push and push and push. You can't fold and walk away. That's what they're hoping for.

dept of insurance

nc has a dept of insurance that i could file a complaint with....i don't know how much power they have , or if i should try to push Allstate 1st , or if there is any thing else i can do??????....i really feel i've been ripped off and run over...niether of 3 different adjusters , 2 from Allstate , and 1 from the Chevy dealership even noticed (maybe they noticed but didn't put on paper) how badly scratched both rims were on the damaged side , while the rims on the other side are in great condition....and it is clearly not curb rash , but in fact ditch rash all over those 2 rims.

Couple of questions:

1. Did the adjuster walk around the vehicle with you and point out the damage and what is to be repaired and did you receive a report of that?

2. Upon delivery of the vehicle did you do a walk around inspection of the vehicle to make sure everything was okay?

Insurance companies are a pita.

Most will cheap out as much as possible.

I was lucky with my accident. First off it was not my fault and two I had a dealer body shop manager who knew how to force things through. He left no stone unturned and forced them to use all new parts and replaced anything that was damaged. They even replace one of the wheels that got a stone ding.

He told me some of the nightmares he has seen. Many of the companies are difficult to work with and the one his wife works for is the worst he told me.

I have seen some real issues with Allstate in the past.

Support from the body man was my best defense. Not sure what to tell you in your efforts.

Good luck.

no , i was not present when any of the adjustments were made....i never really inspected the car until i got it back...i also was unable to be present upon delivery....i had no choice....i have allready lost a month and a half of work....i could not wait any longer to go back to work....i had to send my dad to pickup my hhr.....if i did not get my hhr back this weekend i would lose my contract.....i have lost alot of $ due to this accident....even if my hhr had been repaired correctly , it will still never have the same value ....i really should also be compensated for that also.

Sorry to hear of your troubles

Duct tape sure should not cause any kind of damage...may not be fun to take off remains of it after it's been on for awhile, but doable. Soak a rag in mineral spirits, or you could use a rubber wheel designed for removing leftover adhesive, turned with a battery drill at low speed. Polishing compound after that should bring the finish back, no problem. If they did damage removing duct tape, they did something wrong!

Help

I will greatly appreciate any advice....I cannot stand listening to the huge air leak that from the door that took a month and a half to repair...The electric lock also no longer works...The gm body shop acted like it was beond thier knowledge to fix...As well as the wheel damage , broken glass still in the other door that was replaced , intereior panels and head liner out of place , console light and a signal light no longer work , my panel still had mud inside and out from the ditch , they took my antenna off and didn't put it back....I hate to point a finger...Allstate says I need to talk to the gm body shop that did the work.....I really don't want them near my panel after the condition they delivered it....I called corporate gm today and complained , as well as Allstate corporate , and also filed a complaint with the NC dept of insurance...All I want is my panel fixed....I cannot believe that my local gm body shop did such crappy work...I am so dissapointed , I'm considering calling the local tv news people , if I do not get some satisfaction soon....Sorry , if I seem to be venting on here....I just hope I don't show up on the local news for flipping out with a piece of pipe in 1 hand and a gm or allstate employee in my other hand.
