So my wife drove my car for a week and when i got it back the fan was only working on high. A few days later it stopped working all together. It has been hot as #@$% and i replaced the fan last night. The fan works but only on high so i guess i will order the module.

Just wondering why they would both go bad at the same time? Is there another problem? Would the bad module cause an older fan to die? I have an 06 with 149k on it.

Your description sounds like a resistor not module. Water intrusion is usually at fault.

 

Back when they fixed our cowl leak, about three weeks later the fan would only work on high. When we took it in, they replaced the blower motor resistor stating that it had gotten wet and that solved the problem. The part number on the invoice is 15818910 but it was done under warranty so I don't know the price.

 

"resistor". I ordered it today from Rockauto. had the wrong words. So most likely water intrusion would be the culprit for both going bath with a 2 weeks span? I sealed my rubber flap over the weekend so hopefully that takes care of it. it must have gotten loose when i fixed my wipers about 3 weeks before that.
