Who knows. I had a bad hub/bearing and didn't have the howl as far as I know. Seems the left hub/bearing on mine may be going bad as well.

The metallic clank sound that originally made me take it in. The loud clank from the right side apparently was masking the noise from the left side.

Oh yeah; One thing I thought of after I made that earlier post...when I took the HHR in the other day I also told them of a roaring sound under braking that only show up when braking at highway speeds when it was wet. Now I'm wondering if that roaring sound may have actually been the hub/bearing.

Well after all it was the Hub bearing..dealer fixed that and all rides quiet now !!!
