Battery died
#13
The battery in the HHR is in such a convenient location, I just got into the habit of replacing it between year four and year five. I can at least change it at my convenience that way, rather than when stranded somewhere.

Like I posted before, much with alot of other things, I must be lucky! MY car has only had the battery replaced once in its 200K mile life so far! Though, the replacement is an OEM AC Delco, maybe better quality? Since the bat is in the back I dont think it would be effected too much by heat.

I have a question for the forum, does anyone know the typical drain of a base model HHR when its parked? I saw a reference in some manual or other that the car needs to be driven regularly and not left parked for more than 5 days (I think it was).
My own new (used) HHR has a fresh looking battery, not a Delco, and its voltage drops to 12.3 after only 2 days sitting.
If I knew the typical drain of a car in good working order I could test mine to see if I need to
A) replace the battery
B) track down the leak
C) drive it more often or leave it on a battery tender.
I suspect all this computerization sucks on the battery harder than an older car would.
It's always 'on'.

I suspect it does. I'll have to pull the domelight fuse and take a reading on it.
I'll probably do it tomorrow if I get the chance.
That's why I asked about the normal milliamp draw of a resting HHR, so I can decide whether or not there's a problem. I'm glad to hear they can withstand at least a week of non-use when they're healthy. I just now pulled the onstar/XM fuse #24 to eliminate them, never will use them anyway. If there's no ill effects I'll leave that one out.
Thanks for the reponse.
