Battery Life

So my headlights got left on this morning and killed my battery in about half an hour, and it seems like my battery should last longer than that. Does anyone out there know if that it the average time it would take to drain a car battery or should I be having my battery checked out? Thanks

That's a question that has no definate answer. If that is the original battery, I'd definately have it checked.

Thanks you, Solman. The battery is about two years old. At least it is still under warranty if there is something wrong with it.

Hope I don't jinx by mentioning it but, believe it or not, we still have the original battery in our 06. 11/08/2005 until now; 70K+ miles.....second longest lasting battery I've ever owned.

It would be worth checking, but these are small and relatively low capacity batteries, made to fit in the small space provide for it. I replaced the original battery in my 2007 about a year and a half ago, it checked out just ok, not great, and we were getting ready to go on a two month trip in our motor home, with the HHR towed behind. I just didn't want to take the chance that it would fail while we were traveling.

@katarn, in my personal and honest opinion, I would have the battery looked at for peace of mind.

Same here, just about 80k on it now. I suppose I should take a look at it with winter hitting us now....

generator does not compensate the loss of electricity in full. Especially if your trips is short. That is, every day in your battery a little less power than yesterday.
Just charge it to the top.
And I agree with the guys - the test does not be unnecessary. If I am not mistaken, in America a free battery test at any store.
Check the alternator belt at the same time - there will not be needless.
