Whooper, I'm sorry I didn't read the posts, they would have saved everyone some time and everyone that posted some grief. Thank you for the education part of your post. It sometimes takes me a little longer then normal folks to understand something. I should wrote the battery post in a different subject area.
Thanks to everyone for the information. I'm going to the parts store this morning to have the battery checked, this time with more knowledge about batteries then before. As I posted about the battery, I added a bottle of Lucas gas treatment to dry out the gas tank and gas. It has been outside since I did that and it has started every time. This morning was 27 degrees. BTW I moved to Prescott, AZ about 18 months ago and our place is at 5661 ft. I still have a little snow on the north side of the house from 10 days ago.

 

Thanks for answering my question in that last part. I can now understand the 27 degree weather.

But, I still suggest, with others, you need a battery. If it doesn't "crank" in cold weather, it generally (about 95% of the time) is a battery.

 

I checked again with AZ and the guy was not helpful in telling me what the amps were drawing or the output of the alternator. Only that the machine said everything was working correctly. So across the street I went to O'reilly's. The guy tested the battery and found a loose connection on the neg post. Tighten it and took a reading. 12.7amps on the battery, and I think he said the alternator was putting out 14 volts. The starter were working as it should. So, we are going to wait and see about buying a new battery. Thanks for everyone help on this.
