Bow Tie Falling Apart

Waxing my 2007 HHR this weekend.
Doing fine until I got to the front grille and found my front bow tie emblem is coming apart.
I have already replaced the rear one - twice - under warranty.
Checked my original sales contract and it looks like my 3 year bumper to bumper will expire 5-3-10.
Looks like I lucked out this time - called the dealer and he is ordering me another one today.
What I'm wondering is - when it fails again (out of warranty).
Is Chevy going to keep replacing them?
Is anyone else still having this problem?

A lot of failures like this have occurred. I tried the Street Scene satin finish billet bow tie emblem and the fit was not even close ( left click the camera over on the right and see for yourself). The company is not very customer service minded and the people ( sport truck direct)I purchased it from aren't much better. I ordered front and rear, the rear was/is on back order ( didn't tell me up front) so I called and told them to forget it. I wasn't happy with the front, the street scene people didn't give a rat's butt and
I wasn't gonna wait to see if the rear was any better. Been waiting since April 9th for a refund.......funny took my money in less than 36 hours, can't refund in 7 days?

I've got an '07 LT...... Bought used and just out of the 3 year deal. My back bowtie is showing some separation at the chrome layer but I wouldn't call it coming apart, (yet?) front one is fine. As far as I know they are both original equipment.

Once out of the bumper to bumper I wouldn't expect GM to cover it.

Yes, this is a very common problem on many Chevy vehicles, not just the HHR. Painting it is about the best option, IMHO. I painted mine and haven't looked back. I painted mine dark metallic blue using a can of Duplicolor. They look great now.

Even my dad's '03 Silverado did this just a year or so into it's life. Very common. Each time I wash my HHR I'm thankful I haven't had to replace them, and I'm sure I will someday....

Can you guys be more specific? How is it "coming apart", and how would painting it solve the problem?

The gold foil like film inside gets water inside and shrinks or crinkles and looks tacky. Spray paint covers the outside so you don't see the gold foil. Mine have been painted for a long time so I don't know if they ever wrinkled

Not sure, but I believe the O.P is referring to the Bowtie actually falling apart. At our HHR Meet this past weekend Dustin (djr1973) was missing his rear bowtie because it had fallen apart from the beauty bar. Most of the members here are talking more about the gold part of the bowtie being water damaged. Two separate issues I think.

I noticed that, I actually liked the way it looked, almost like billet.

The Bowtie gets moisture behind it and that is why the gold foil looks crappy. Mine kept getting worse and worse till about 2 weeks ago when we got 2 1/2 inches of rain and someone had said something to me about the dirt that was trapped behind it and I barely touched it and it fell off. I fixxed mine with some 3M double sided tape today and stuck it back on and added some color to it before I stuck it back on.
