Brake lights

the brake lights do not come on unless i stand on the pedal. is there an adjustment like the cars of the past ? ( light switch was on a screw and collar setup ? i looked under the dash and only found one switch off the brake pedal. it looked like the cruise switch since it had vacuum lines going to it. or do they use the same switch as the cruise.? if so can you adjust it ?

I don't know if they use the same switch, but since the applying the brakes disconnects the cruise control, "they" should be connected...?

Try looking at the Service manuals - the top sticky under General will give you the links to download.

Stop Switch Adjustment

There are two power feeds coming off the stop switch one goes to the center stop light the other goes to the BCM.

The stop switch will have a connector with a red wire and two light blue wires.

There appears to be a Stop Switch Adjustment, but I was unable to locate it in the documentation I have.

When you step on the pedal with normal pressure does the center stop light illuminate ?

The brake lights are controlled by a "brake pedal position sensor" rather than an on/off switch of old. Goes through the BCM.

? Doesn't the key have to be in the "on" position for the brake lights to work?
On my 2010 it does. If so, how did it run down the battery?

well i found out that my third brake was on when the car was off and im like wtf? So know i tested my brake lights by press on the pedal while the car was started no go ....my tail lights work ,turn signal work ,side makers work, but no brake lights... also found out my cruise control not working ,so someone said it most likely be the brake switch going out ... this making me sick because my wife needs the car for work .. plus with the third brake light staying on it was draining my battery dead, so i pulled all the bulbs out of third brake light sockets the one that's in middle back hatch at the top ....any help?
