brand new hhr steering problem

hi, Just bought my hhr one week ago. I was pulling out of a parking spot when i discovered i had no steering, the steering wheel would not move! A light came on that said 'service air bag" after waiting for the wonderful chevy roadside assistance for an hour and 40 minutes I decided to try the car again which then the steering was fine, go figure and drove it to the dealer myself. Anyone have any ideas. I can't believe this is a brand new car and this going on. Very dissapointing.

Without knowing what codes were set, it is nearly impossible to help you on this issue. May be programming, wiring problem or BCM problems.

could it possibly be the 'ole loose fuse problem rearing its ugly head?? Check and push in the fuses in the fuse box under the hood?

Anytime the BCM (Body Control Module) commands a warning message or light to appear on your instrument cluster or the DIC, it sets a code, which is stored by the BCM. With this code diagnostics can be performed to find out why the code was set.

Okay for 9 months I have remained silent on this one but today I give my take on it. This is an Urban Legend that as far as I can tell, was started on this forum. Any correlation between pushing on fuses and a symptom disappearing is purely coincidental. As stated by the OP, turning the vehicle off and back on will have better results then pushing on fuses.

I have never heard or seen this fixing any car for any reason. Now I feel better, so if you want to dispute me, go ahead. I'm all smiles as I type this.

I lick my finger first and press the fuses and then the tingling means they are set proper. Works on house current also. and after 9 months I wake from a coma

Let us know next time you are going to do that, so we can "borrow" your HHR since you won't be needing it
