Broken Glass

On my way to work this morning, 60 mph in town freeway, center lane, nothing in the left lane, all of a sudden the drivers window just explodes!!!! First i thought maybe gun shot (I wasn't hit). Then I'm thinking foreign object. I have searched on the interior but found nothing out of place. I have inspected the exterior and found no damage.

Anyone ever had this happen or have any thoughts??

Brad (ChevyMgr)??

Wow At least it sounds like you didn't get hurt and nothing got too torn up. IMO, you probably got a flying object of some sort. Keep us posted.

If that woulda happened to me, I know that there woulda been some damage to the driver seat cushion...

Could it have been someone "having fun" with a BB gun?? I'd report it to the local state police barracks just in case.

Well it wasnt me I was skeet shooting in Canada - but the same thing happened to me except it was the rear gate window. It just exploded on me and I wasnt even moving I closed the drivers side door and the glass blew out. I contacted GM to see if anyone else had this problem and they said no they had not had any other complaints about it. But they gave me a free oil change out of the ordeal

Same thing happened to me several years ago, but it was the passenger side and nothing but river for a mile or 2 to that side, and no other traffic on the road. I'm glad to hear someone else has goonies in their doors!

I have seen this happen once in a while. Some times there is a imperfection in the glass that once the conditions are right the temperd glass just lets go.

I saw one that was in the back of a Chevette that blew out and landed on the ground because the spare in the back blew up. It even blew the hatch open. It did not hurt the glass and just blew it our of the gasket. Go figure.

I have seen side windows shatter for no reason and I have seen people hit them with a hammer and bounce off. Tempered Glass is tempermental...Sorry I could not pass that one up.

Two weeks ago i was sitting at a stop light, and my rear window exploded?
I looked behind to see if someone had ran into me , but there was no one there. The window looked like it was pushed out from the inside. It was a cool
morning and i had the rear window defroster on, the car was also warm on the inside. Icalled GM to see if there were any others with this problem and they said no. So i'm still wondering why it exploded? The only good thing was it only cost me 200.00 for a new one installed.Thats a tinted window with heat.

So, Auto insurance is different in The Great White North? I have always had a deductible waived if I shopped around. And I keep a $100 deductible glass because I figure on a windshield at least every 2 years. It was some time ago, but I think the insurance co. just replaced the side window as if it was an "uninsured driver" incident.
