While Dory was still under factory warranty, both tail/brake lights went out, fortunately at different times. Each light got replaced the day it happened, one by my local dealer, and the second by an out of state dealer. Each time, I was in/out in under 15 min, and total cost to me was zip.

So your live at the dealership, and thus no drive time getting there ? We have parts houses around the corner but the dealership is 15 minutes away to the nearest one ! He was killing two birds with one stone stopping buy the parts counter and going to service the HHR for free at the same time !

Yeah, I've been busy...so I still haven't had time to stop in (since the nearest dealer is now 10 miles away) Hopefully on Monday.

 

Nope, the dealer that Dory was purchased from is only ¼ mile from my mother-in-law's home, dealer is between her place and mine, so I didn't have to go out of my way, or make a special trip.

 

As I had assumed, it was not covered under warranty...so I just bought one for $4, and will do it myself. Guess I'll be doing a how-to with pictures and all... Doesn't look too tricky. I'm hoping I never have to do the rear blinkers!!

Like I had said, I had to go out to the dealer to pick up a speedometer gear I had ordered for the truck anyways, so I wasn't really out anything. Maybe I can put the blinker in tonight, but probably more likely tomorrow. I have to work. I need to fix it though because people give me dirty looks when I'm turning and they're waiting for me because they don't think I have it on....

 

Why is that? It's easier than the front and you don't have to lay down on the ground to do it

 

Really? I'm not very good with removing plastic trim and not breaking the clips....

 

Well, I just did it.... Barely enough room for my hand to fit in there, let alone a camera...so needless to say, I couldn't get pics. Really you just have to remove a few clips and a screw, pull apart the front of the wheel well, and reach up in there. The light is easier to see than some of them, so you just twist it and pull it out. Pull out the old one, and put in the new. Then button it all up again. Wish I could have got pictures though...
