we now have this same probem I think its just flay out build quality.

Tell you what though, in a year or two (which is all the longer i think this car will last), ill buy my wife the forester sti if subaru makes it.

ya i had something just like that but my door would not open at all not threw the inside nor threw the outside i had to go threw the other door lol right that happen last month didnt have a car for 4 days had a rental!

Using parts that are 'user friendly' does not make the cost higher to manufacture. It just makes it cheaper to maintain. The door handle on the HHR could just have easily been bolted into place with locktite rather than permantly bonded. But then the part Chevy sells to repair it would have been a lot cheaper, meaning less profit. The more expensive the part, the more built-in profit.
