Oh by the way my dealership is going to fix it for only a $100 deductible, even though it's out of warranty! It is a bad compressor. Whew!

GMPP is accepted by every GM dealership in the nation, no hassels. The only time they request maintenance records is for engine failures and sludge is discovered inside of the engine. If you change your oil as you should, there will be no hassels.

Guess I better pony up for a GMPP. I drew a good hand this time but I can't expect red carpet treatment forever - they have to make some money in the shop.

Hmmm...maybe they had some bailout funds left over?

Sorry, but I hadn't looked here in a few days! The warranty I have is administered by MPPCo.,Inc., P.O.Box634, Shawnee Mission KS 66201.
1-800-747-4400. I bought it at the same time I bought the HHR at the Chevy Dealer here in town. It's called "Executive Premier Coverage" 6 Year 60,00 mi. (Still good for 2 more Years, but I'll be in a Home before I get to 60,00 miles!)This was in August '05, before GM came up with their Extended Warranties, and 0% financing!! (Lucky Me!!)

MPP is a very good warranty also. Underwritten by Old United Insurance and has been selling warranties on autos since 1979. They also cover boats, water craft and motor homes I think.

So, I had never really thought about an extended warranty... Would that be a good thing to look into? Also, how much does one cost? I would be looking at the GMPP...but my certified used warranty doesn't expire until June, so I wouldn't need anything before then.

Well....It wasn't cheap, I can tell you that! I just looked at the contract from when we bought the HHR. The service contract (Warranty) was $1,865.00 for 6 Year/60,000 mi. coverage. That's a big chunk to add on to the price of the vehicle. but I didn't need any expensive repair problems popping up over the time I would still be making car payments.
I guess it's a roll of the dice when you buy this coverage I suppose any kind of insurance is just a "Wager" of sorts. In my case it "Sort of" paid off so far, what with the $850.00 it paid for on the compressor replacement. Actually, I hope I never have to use it again!
I would think that any company that sells car warranties would have more than one plan to choose from, but I'm sure the less it costs, the less it'll cover.

Yeah, and no matter what goes wrong, you know THAT won't be covered.

You've got that right! The Service Advisor at the Chevy dealer said that if I hadn't bought the "Premier Executive Coverage", the compressor wouldn't have been covered!!

My 2006 HHR also got the problem with the AC compressor last Friday at 50000 miles, the engine died and just starts and stops, the workshop saying it was the AC compressor and costs more a $ 1000, luckily I have insurance for that too.
