camshaft position sensor

camshaft position sensor
I just replaced the front camshaft position sensor on my daughters 2010 with the 2.2 engine. After I had a code reader show the code for the sensor.I then had the code removed at autozone. He removed the code 3 times as I watched. Each time I started the engine an the light was still on. The last time he tried removing the code it showed permanent on the meter. I don't no what that means, and the tec said he didn't either. I then started the car to drive away and the engine light was out. I drove about 12 miles to home and shut the engine off, light still out.About an hour later when I started the engine the check engine light is back on. Anyone have any ideas ? I read somewhere that you might have to drive the car a few days before the ECM corrected it self.
It appears as though I was given the wrong info from autozone as has been mentioned here in this forum. The codes shown are P00 13 and POO14
It says camshaft position (cmp) actuator solenoid fault. I replaced the camshaft position sensor . I was reading what kind of condition it would cause with having the bad actuator. The car is running fine, and shifting fine. The only problem is the engine light is always on. Would you recommend that I replace both the actuators

Unless you post up the actual code number, then no one can give you a definite answer.
Code descriptions are sometimes known to be wrong, misleading or inaccurate. Many folks have replaced the wrong parts based on a generic code description. Using the actual code number is the most accurate way to diagnois.
FWIW. There have been several people on this site that replaced the sensors in error. Parts stores told them that was the problem when it was actually the actuator solenoids that needed replacing.
Not saying this happened in your case but it is a possibility.
Post up the actual code numbers and we'll try to help out.

pdmorris1. Glad you sent me a PM or I would have missed your update where you added the CEL numbers.
(Fwiw. You added the info to a day old post so a lot of folks won't see it as a recent post. In other words, it may get overlooked. Best to always add a new post.)
OK. P0013, P0014. Best thing to do is just send you to this link. https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...13-14-a-28779/
It's a fairly long thread but pretty much answers all the questions pertaining to these codes.
Looks like you may need to replace the camshaft actuator solenoids like I mentioned in my previous post.
I'm not the expert on these (never had to replace mine) but if you have any more questions I'm sure our members will respond.

thank you for the info. I appreciate it. It mentions in the text about people having start problems and shifting problems ect. I don't have any of those just the light on all the time. I just wondered if they could be bad without me having only the light on or maybe it could be something else,

Yes they can be bad with just the light on (that is what the code is telling you), just go and replace the exhaust solenoid as per the link FMG post for you.
Not all symptoms will show up all the time (hard shifting etc.).
(tip: not that the code is p00xx not pooxx - the 0's are ZEROs (not alpha characters) - it makes a MAJOR difference when you are searching for info using the code)

I replaced both actuator solenoids today, along with new sparkplugs. It took me all of an hour for both jobs to be completed. Had the engine code cleared. Car is running fine, and no engine light on any more. Follow the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement (w. pics) - P0010/11 P0013/14 posted on this forum by firemangeorge. Thanks for the info everyone

Yes. Glad you were able to resolve the problem.
As far as thanks. You should probably give a big thank you to our moderator "whopper". It was his thread about the actuators. All I did was point you in the direction of that thread.
