Can shorted Radio Light be Replaced?
Hello All!
I have a 2009 Chevy HHR LS or LT. Two years ago I attended the funeral of a close friend in upstate New York. The outside temperature was around 0 degrees F. My wife got in the car and put some hot coffee cups on the dashboard. Well, given the dashboard is curved and not a flat horizontal surface, gravity prevailed and the coffee spilled down the center console. Every since then the light for the radio is very faint and unreadable.
I saw some great videos from some car stereo guys on youtube on how to remove the radio, but I can't find any discussion on whether or not this light problem can be repaired (by me).
1. Does anyone know if the radio light can be replaced? If so, is it just a matter of a quick disassembly?
2. Are replacement bulbs readily available? Where? what type?
3. Any special tools needed for radio disassembly?
4. Do I have to get a dealership to reprogram the radio once it's back in?
Thanks a lot.
