Can't figure out what's wrong.
My 2006 hhr has a shuddering issue. This primarily happens when going between 25-30 mph, over 65, and when braking. It started out when just braking, but has gradually increased to be more of a problem. My front rotors have been replaced, as I thought maybe that was the cause, that didn't really help. I thought it may be the torque converter, due to shuddering between second and third gears sometimes, but before I go and spend all that money, I was just trying to see if anyone else is having the same issues. I would really like to find out what this is, because my fiance has a 2008 pontiac g6 and it's starting to do the same thing. My car has 92000 on it, and the g6 has 60000, so both are higher milage.

axles are good. Sorry, I forgot to mention that I hit a pothole pretty good and it knocked the tire off my wheel and busted my hub. When that happened, I checked for any suspension problems and also saw that that the axle and everything were fine.

well, the problem was there before the pot hole incident. But I got a new wheel from the dealership, as the other was bent. They mounted the old tire for me and said that it was fine. The wheel hub was replaced after the pot hole, it wasn't that that was causing the problem...
oh, and if it helps, the steering wheel also shakes when the shuddering happens.

They were checked by just visuals. We put the car up on a lift at a friend's shop. Several different people, actual mechanics with experience, looked at everything and determined that nothing visually was broken. I do not really have much mechanical knowledge so I couldn't really tell you what they were looking for. I know they did mention that a few specifics were fine, axle, tie rods, struts/shocks, etc. They were thinking the shuddering may be in the steering column. Of course, there's always the chance that something that we can not see is broken. When driving it, it steers fine and acts normal, except for the shuddering, of course.

My wife's Olds Bravada developed a light shuddering in the front end that was more pronounced at certain speeds and less at other speeds. Can't remember what speeds it was, but it was in and out. It had about 95k miles on the odo. It turned out to be front wheel bearings.
