I had mine done a couple of months back. Free replacement
Have a look for similar threads there is one that tells you what fuse needs pulled to shut the engine off if running. I had my wife find the thread and tell me over the phone.
Took the car into dealer the next day.

This forum is great!!

You should have received a letter from Chevrolet last year explaining everything. If you threw it away, just call the local service dept. I am sure they will give you a copy.

I'm printing that info off when I got to the dealership, I have a 2010 SS. They'll probably try to charge me for it but I ain't gonna take that crap.

Is this issue a Recall or just an Extended warranty fix.

What years are included?

If it is a Recall why should I wait till it lets me me down on a dark night in the booneys?

Don't wait till it breaks. If it's on the covered list, take it to the dealer and have them replace it. Free.

For '09 & '10, I believe it is a recall.. You should have a letter..Or call your Dealer..

For older '08 it is a Special Coverage Provision, for 10 years, but sucks that ya need to have the problem first..

Of course if your Dealer is decent, they 'may' take your word that you have experienced the problem.. maybe ?
